Basic Motion Tutorial

Learn the basics of how to use Motion, one my favorite pieces of software and a perfect companion to Final Cut Pro X. | taught by Izzy Hyman

Course description

I'm a huge fan of Apple's Motion software. Every time I use it, I feel like I'm playing, but it's not a toy because you can create some amazing results with it.

I created this basic Motion course to help you get comfortable using Motion. If you're a brand new user, this will help you get up and running. If you have experience with Motion, you might pick up some new tricks.

This tutorial includes:

  • 26 training videos, more than 3.5 hours total
  • Downloadable project media, so you can work on the same content you see me using in the videos

My basic Motion Course guides you through creating three complete projects in Motion.

Questions and Answers

Q: Are the videos downloadable?
A: Yes, each video in the course can be downloaded and saved to your computer.

Q: How long will you have access to the course?
A: Your access doesn't expire, so you will have access as long as the course is available on my site.

Q: What version of Motion did I use in the videos?
A: I recorded the videos using Motion 5.1.2 (the current version as of March 2015), but if you have any recent version (since version 5), the videos should still apply. You might find small changes here and there, but the basics of using Motion haven't changed that much. When new versions come out in the future, if the differences are big enough, I'll likely record supplementary videos or possibly record the whole course again.
